ASTRA's Executive Director, Dr. Robert Boege and Senior Advisor & Futurist Dr. Ronnie Lowenstein were invited to join 100 other STEM Trailblazers for a dynamic day-long Round Table and Policy Forum to address issues of attracting, retaining, and advancing women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) on March 29th.
Dr. Ronnie Lowenstein represented ASTRA as Advisor and Futurist, and Career Communications Group as their Alum and 2015 Women of Color in STEM Lifetime Achievement Awardee at the TECH 2020 press event, “African American Tech Talent: Ready, Willing and Able,” held on December 3rd. at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Ronnie Lowenstein was honored with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women of Color Science, Technology Engineering and Math Gala as a pioneer whose career spanning research, policy and practice has promoted Equity-Focused STEM Innovation, nationally and internationally.
ASTRA Joined the first of its kind, Public Safety STEM Career Awareness Day sponsored by The Coalition for Public Safety Training in Schools,(CPSTS, Inc) held Wednesday, July 29 at Prince George’s Community College. The Coalition’s partners including Prince George’s County Public Schools are seeking to build the innovation capacity and inspire public service by focusing on three future focused STEM career fields; specifically,
ASTRA joined its partners, including the Prince George’s County Public Schools and the Global NetGeneration of Youth STEM Ambassadors for Rep. Donna Edwards (MD-4) 7th Annual Blastoff! event held on Capitol Hill April 28. Rep. Edwards, who serves as the Ranking Member on the House Science, Space & Technology Committee’s Subcommittee on Space, was a corecipient of this year’s George E. Brown Award, conferred by the ASTRAsupported STEM on The Hill TM Congressional Visits Day event on March 17.
ASTRA Celebrated Women in STEM at The National Women's History Museum’s Breaking In: Women & STEM, Then and Now discussion held at The George Washington University November 20th about the excellence of women in STEM fields and their destiny as integral members of the STEM community. ASTRA, as an advocate for increased innovation and nationwide capacity in STEM, believes our global competiveness is strengthened when its female members are empowered.
