In its first three years, the Administration has combined unprecedented financial support for education with extraordinary success in pursuing and achieving fundamental reforms that will benefit  students of all ages and help build a globally competitive workforce.  Central to this effort has been the Race to the Top (RTT) initiative for elementary and secondary education, a competition that spurred States across the Nation to bring together teachers, school  leaders, and policy makers to achieve difficult, yet fundamental improvements to our education system.
